Galaxy M 31

The Andromeda Galaxy, also known as Messier 31, M31, or NGC 224, is a spiral galaxy approximately 780 kiloparsecs (2.52 million miles)from Earth. It is the nearest major galaxy to us in the Milky Way and was often referred to as the Great Andromeda Galaxy in older texts.

Distance to Earth: 2.537 million light years

Age: 9.006 billion years

Stars: 1 trillion

Constellation: Andromeda

Tek Data: Imaged in extreeme detail in November of 2016. Taken wiht a Moravian G4EC 16000 CCD camera all at bin 1. This is an Ha+LRGB image with about 5 hours of acquistion time. Processing was done with, MaxIm, CCDSoft, PI and PS C6
